Going Out to Eat Will Look Different When Lockdowns Lift

Even when the lockdowns lift, will restaurants stay this empty?

Some restaurant owners are worried that the lengthy quarantine may lead to the unthinkable: the end of restaurants as we know it.

“All of a sudden, it’s like: ‘I don’t know if I want someone touching my food,’” Bob Goldin, a consultant, told Bloomberg News. “I think we’re all learning we can live without restaurants.”

The entire restaurant experience might get a little weird before it gets back to normal: Waiters in masks. Temperature checks at the door. Diners spaced at least six feet apart. No buffet tables or shared apps.
