How One Pizzeria Tricked DoorDash at Its Own Game

DoorDash reportedly lost $450 million in 2019. Yep, a cool half billion.

This might be one reason: The delivery app sometimes charges less than what a restaurant would charge for the same item on its menu. Sometimes a lot less. It's a tactic that might be a way for DoorDash to gain marketshare or grow its top-line revenue (at the expense of profits, which, as we know, it doesn't make any).

By exploiting this price discrepancy, one pizzeria owner in Topeka, Kansas, turned the tables on this much-loathed app (at least among restaurant owners).

Call it DoorDash Pizza Arbitrage.
