What's the Freakin' Deal with All of the Fireworks?

Fireworks at night.

If you live in a metropolitan city, you've probably heard the loud bangs and pops going off in your neighborhood at all hours. Gunshots? Nah, probably just fireworks.

But you're likely hearing them every. single. night.

There are a lot of theories about the proliferation of fireworks this year.

Vox takes a look at one of the biggest conspiracy theories going around, that this is all part of an effort by law enforcement to disorient and destabilize the Black Lives Movement.

The New York Times offers a much more pedestrian (and plausible) explanation:

"After months of quarantine and social distancing, people are bored, and setting off fireworks for fun — and seeing fireworks just makes fireworks enthusiasts want to set off more fireworks."

What's your theory?
