‘I Can’t Keep Doing This:’ Small-Business Owners Are Giving Up

The pandemic is killing off tens of thousands of small businesses across America.

And it's only getting worse as 39 states continue to see growing cases of coronavirus.

According to Harvard researchers, nearly 110,000 small businesses across the country shut down permanently between early March and early May.

Nick Muscari, a 38-year-old restaurateur in Lubbock, Texas, worked for years as a waiter, cook and a manager before starting his own establishment, Nick’s Sports Grill and Lounge.

Then the virus came. Even with a PPP loan, Muscari couldn't stay open. He still owes a bank $80,000.

This is just one story in the economic catastrophe that is COVID-19.
